3 men docked for alleged attempt to burgle shop

Three men were on Thursday brought before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly breaking into a shop with the intent to steal.

The defendants, Segun Adenuga, 39; Idowu Seye, 45; and Victor Omobolaji, 25; whose addresses were unknown, were arraigned on a three-count-charge bordering on conspiracy and breaking.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the prosecutor, Insp Adegeshin Famuyiwa, the defendants committed the offences on Jan. 11 on Aina Adenuga Street, Agbede Odugbose, Owutu in Agric area of Ikorodu.

The prosecutor alleged that the defedants conspired to break into shops belonging to one Mrs Abigeal Arishile in contravention of Sections 411, 310 and 310 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Section 411 stipulates three years’ jail term for conspiracy while Section 310 provides for three years’ imprisonment for intent to commit felony.

The Magistrate, Mr B. A. Sonuga, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

The magistrate adjourned the case until Feb. 3 for mention.
