NOA urges Kebbi residents to collect PVCs to decide leaders of their choice

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Kebbi State has urged the electorate to update or collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), so as to exercise their franchise, Mr Joseph Yero- Machika, Director of NOA in the state, has said.

He told newsmen at a briefing in Binrin Kebbi, on Friday, that “PVC is the only instrument residents could use to decide leaders of their choice.”

Yero-Machika, therefore, called on residents, who were yet to register to do so to enable them participate in the electoral process.

“I urge all residents who have registered as voters but have not collected their PVC to do so. Also, residents who are yet to register as voters should go to the nearest INEC registration centre to register for their PVC.

“The PVC is an important instrument to decide the kind of leadership that people want. I appeal to residents once again to get their voter’s card to participate in the democratic process,” he said.

Yero-Machika said obtaining the PVC was of no use if people failed to vote during elections, urging residents to actively participate in the electoral process, through voting for leaders of their choice.

The director also advised the youths to shun political thuggery, saying that such attitude was detrimental not only to the success of the elections but also to societal growth.

“Politicians should not patronise thugs or any undemocratic practices; let us be sympathetic to Nigerians, especially the youths.

“The youths we are using negatively today, are the leaders of tomorrow and what image are we portraying when we give them weapons and drugs to kill themselves?

“I urge you, the politicians, to please engage in issue-based campaign, devoid of fake news as only the appropriate authority has the right to announce results.

“This election that comes on Feb. 5, is very crucial in the sense that it touches the mind of the local populace, as they are very close to candidates of various parties being near and closed to them,” he said.
