Tenant docked for allegedly pouring substance into compound well

A woman, Sidikat Adewoye, was on Friday docked in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly pouring liquid substance into the well.

The police charged Adewoye with causing breach of peace.

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 15, at the Oke-Odan area of Isashi in Ojo Lagos.

Ekpo said that the defendant poured a liquid substance into a well, which was the source of water supply to tenants in the building.

The prosecution said the defendant claimed that the what she poured into the well was “spiritual ocean” water.

The offence, the prosecution said, contravenes the provisions of Section 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

Magistrate Taiwo Popoola ad,itted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjouned the case until March 16 for mention.
