Gov. Gboyega Oyetola of Osun, says he is confident of winning the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary and the July 19 gubernatorial election in the state.

Oyetola said this on Wednesday during a “strategic tour” of Modakeke, Ife Central, and LocIfe Eastal Areas of the state.

The governor, who noted that he is not afraid of the election, said he is optimistic of victory.

“We are not afraid and we are confident that we will win the party’s primary as well as the gubernatorial election.

“We don’t know the system they will bring. Whether direct or indirect, we are ready.

“I don’t have any reason to doubt you because I know that you are always in one place,” he said.

Besides, the governor promised that his administration would complete all the major projects before the end of his first term.

“I don’t make promises without fulfilling them.

“I have been hearing about Famia road since the time I was the Chief of Staff and I thank God that we have finished it now.

“We are set to begin another one. Your votes brought me in. I must show appreciation,” the governor said.

Oyetola, who pledged that he will not disappoint the people of Ile-Ife, assured that none of the roads and other projects embarked upon would be abandoned before he leaves office.

He said, “We cannot play with the cradle of Yorubas, because he’s the origin of all.

“So all the projects embarked on would surely be completed before the end of my first term by God’s Grace”.

The governor also appealed to members of the party who were not given any political appointment to be patient with him.

“I want to appeal to you on the sharing of political posts. Let us be patient. It will go round.

“If we are reelected, those that did not get in the first term will surely get in the second term.

*Let us know that we can only demand for posts when we are in government,” he said.

Earlier, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, while welcoming governor and his entourage, commended him for his giant strides in the state.

Ooni, who was represented by Obalufe of Ife Kingdom, Oba Idowu Adediwura, pleaded with the governor to ensure the completion of all the major roads in the town.

Also, Lowa Adimula of Ife, High Chief Adekola Adeyeye, urged Oyetola to promote the tourists centres in Ile-Ife, adding they will boost the economy of the state.

Adeyeye said that if the state government could embrace all the tourists centres in the town, it would promote growth and development of the state.

Also, the Special Adviser to the governor on Political Matters, Mr Sunday Akere, said the purpose of the tour is to appreciate the people of the town for their support for the governor, and notify them of the governor’s intention to run for a second term.

It was reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed July 16 for the gubernatorial election in the state.
