Man docked over alleged theft of iron clips

The Police on Friday arraigned a 35-year-old man, John Idris, in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 92 pieces of iron clips at a project site in Ojo, Lagos.

The defendant is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, ASP Simeon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 15.

He said that the defendant stole 92 pieces of iron clips from a project site near the Lagos State University in Ojo, Lagos.

According to the prosecutor, the iron clips which belong to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) worth N184,000.

He said the offences contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr Ademola Adesanya, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Feb. 2 for mention.
