Ile-Ife records first rain in 2022
The ancient city of Ile-Ife, Osun, on Wednesday recorded its first rain of the year, following a downpour in some areas of the town.
Our correspondent reports that the rain which started around 6:40 p.m. in some areas, lasted between 20 and 30 minutes in Opa and Kosere areas.
Other areas that the rain fell were Ifedapo, Moremi, Iloro, Oke-Atan, Lagere, Mayfair, Campus and some areas of Modakeke including Urban-day, Better life, Oke-D.O, Itaasin among others.
The rain did not, however, fall in Eleyele, Ibadan Road, Modomo, Igboya, Sabo, Ilare, Road-Seven, Oduduwa and Iremo areas among others.
The rain which fell without storm, was heavy in the affected areas and there was no report of any destruction of property.
Mrs Sade Iyiola, who resides at Iredumi area of Ile-Ife, described the rainfall as a welcome development and great relieve.
“Am so happy to witness the first rainfall of the year, the weather has not been friendly for some time now.”
“l believe this rain will usher in a more favourable weather to all and sundry,” Iyiola said.
Also speaking, Mr Kolawole Ibiyemi told our correspondent that the prevailing dusty weather would soon pave way.
The rain served as a signal to farmers to begin clearing their farmlands in preparation for the planting of crops.
