EU foreign ministers to meet in Brussels as Ukraine crisis continues

EU foreign ministers are due to discuss the latest developments in the Ukraine conflict in Brussels on Monday, following a weekend of heightened tensions in Donbas with fatalities reported by both sides.

The increasing number of alleged ceasefire violations in eastern Ukraine has been a subject of particular concern.

The concern heightens amid fears that Russian President Vladimir Putin could use the fighting between pro-Russian separatists and Ukrainian Government troops as a pretext to invade Ukraine.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is billed to attend a joint breakfast with his EU counterparts.

Other topics on Monday’s agenda include the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Bosnia, which is experiencing its worst political crisis since the end of the Bosnian War in 1995.

The ministers are also due to discuss the security situation in Mali, where the European Union must decide whether to end its training mission for the Malian armed forces, following a recent military coup.
