FRSC will continue to engage stakeholders for safety on highways
Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, the Corps Marshal (CM), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), said the commission would engage stakeholders to ensure safety of lives and property in the country.
He said this on the sideline of the public presentation and launching of FRSC Osun Safety Gong Magazine Award Ceremony in Osogbo on Thursday.
Oyeyemi, who was represented by the Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Osun, Oyo and Ekiti, Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Uakhemen Ojeamiren, explained that the purpose of the magazine was to further engage stakeholders towards a better road culture in the state.
He said the corps would continue to create a safe motoring environment for all road users in the country, especially in Osun.
“FRSC has put in place many strategies for proper education of the motoring public and would not relent in carrying out its advocacy policies aimed at creating more awareness to road users,’’ Oyeyemi said.
According to him, the importance of publications such as magazines and journals in propagating safety messages cannot be over emphasised.
He noted that the magazine was aimed at providing different and exciting ways of educating road users towards reducing avoidable road crashes.
The FRSC Boss further said the magazine would be made available in all sector commands and its component units for the purpose of educating learner drivers in all driving schools in the state.
He commended Mr Paul Okpe, the sector commander in Osun and his officers, for the laudable initiative of the magazine.
Oyeyemi, therefore said the safety management would continue to make concerted efforts towards engaging stakeholders in creating a safe motoring environment.
Gov. Adegbeyega Oyetola of Osun commended FRSC for its resilience to ensure safety of lives and property in the state.
Oyetola, who was represented by his Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Wole Oyebemiji, said “he attested to the creativity and innovation of Osun sector commander, Okpe, in rendering good services to Osun people”.
According to him, the state government has prioritised safety and peace as one of the vehicles for delivering its agenda as promised to the people.
He called on security agencies to continue to reciprocate the good gesture of the government in carrying out their operational activities.
Speaking with some of the awardees, the Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Afolabi, and former National Secretary of Road Safety Special Marshal, Mr Tunde Ajiboye, thanked FRSC for the awards and promised to continue supporting the Agency on safety matters.
It was reported that the awardees include Deputy Gov. Benedict Alabi, Mr Tunde Ajiboye, Oba Kayode Afolabi, Mrs Olaiya Abimbola and Osun State Ambulance Services.
The Award Ceremony was the second edition in the state by the FRSC Osun command.
