Man docked over alleged stealing of truck worth N8.3m
A 31-year-old man, Paul Ilesomi, who allegedly stole a truck, valued at N8.3 million, on Tuesday, appeared before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ajegunle.
The defendant, whose address was not given, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Emby Ingobo, told the court that the defendant and one other, at large, committed the offences between November 2021 and May 14, 2022, on Wharf Road Apapa, Lagos.
Ingobo said that the defendant and his accomplice conspired to steal a Mack truck, with registration number: FKJ 272 YC, valued at N8.3 million.
He said that the truck belonged to one Robinson Shaguolo, who is the complainant.
The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened Sections 280 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The Magistrate, Mr O.O. Olatunji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million, with two responsible sureties in like sum.
He said that the sureties must be gainfully employed, show evidence of tax payment to Lagos Government and have their addresses verified.
The case was adjourned till Aug. 2 for trial.
