Prof. Sulyman Abdulkareem, the Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin (Unilorin), has enjoined workers of the institution to continue putting their best through hard work and commitment.

Abdulkareem made the call at a send-forth get-together organised by members of staff of the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Sylvia Malomo, on Wednesday in Ilorin.

Malomo has just completed her tour of duty as DVC (Academic) after two-terms in office.

The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Registrar, Dr Fola Olowoleni, commended Malomo’s firm and painstaking commitment to her onerous task as DVC.

He said her hard work and commitment contributed in no small measure to the stability of his administration in particular and the Unilorin system in general.

“The work of DVC Academic is very enormous, as dealing with the lecturers is no mean task so also is dealing with the students.

“It takes a fair and firm administrator and a woman of timber and calibre to make a success of the task like Prof. Malomo had done,” adding that “if she is not firm, the whole system would have collapsed”.

The vice-chancellor also pointed out that the University’s Governing Council respected Malomo a lot, stressing that “her contributions are always meticulous and painstaking and they are often adopted”.

Abdulkareem commended the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) for putting together the event in appreciation of their benevolent boss.

In his own tribute, Mr Hakeem Sonde, the Bursar, described Malomo as “a woman of integrity, full of wisdom and very hard working”.

He described her as very humble and always ready to take advice.

On his part, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Director of Corporate Affairs of the university, described the outgoing DVC as “a woman of many parts”.

He asserted that she is a renowned Bio-Chemist, a consummate administrator, a diligent problem-solver, a very affable boss and a very dutiful Igbomina wife”.

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of gifts by the staff of the DVC’s Office and a private photographer, popularly known as ‘Everyday’, who came with a large painting of the outgoing deputy vice-chancellor.
