2023: Okowa’s aide urges youths involvement to secure future
Delta Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, has urged Nigerian youths and women to vote for Atiku/Okowa ticket come 2023 general elections to secure their today and future in the country.
Aniagwu, stated this while delivering a keynote address at the official inauguration of the State Chapter Executives and Local Government Area Coordinators of the People Democratic Part(PDP) New Generation Platform on Wednesday in Asaba.
He said that the joint ticket of the Party Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar, and his Vice -Presidential Candidate, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, has the blueprint that would articulately accommodate the youth and women during and after the 2023 general elections.
He said that the theme of the event, “Politics Beyond Today, Securing Our Future” was apt, adding that the PDP, Atiku /Okowa ticket had provided the opportunity for the youths to take that future now.
“As the countdown to the formal commencement of campaigns ahead of the 2023 general elections continues, the formation of the PDP New Generation becomes necessary;
“A group whose Mission is “to create and promote a platform for youth and women to network and participate actively in the political process and governance for a new Nigeria” is both apt and timely.
“Gentlemen and Ladies, this is your time, this is your opportunity. Your future is now, seize the moment,” Aniagwu said.
According to Aniagwu, many things have currently gone wrong in the country; the case of insecurity, division among different ethnic groups, geopolitical divide, children not in school due to ASUU strike among others.
“We have not addressed the issues on how to make work available for our people to enable our young ones who are educated and employable get job.
“Those are the issues that the Atiku/Okowa ticket identify in the covenant with Nigerians.
“The reasons why the youth need to key in is to a large extent that Atiku/Okowa is talking about the present for the youths and not just the future.
“We need to address the issues that have divided us as a people and the need for us to come together and have a buy in of every segment of our society.”
He said that the divisions today in the country was the cause why the potentials of the nation have not been fully realised.
He expressed optimism that the Atiku led PDP when enthroned would pull both human and natural resources to deliver good governance to the people.
According to him, Nigeria should be in a position to lend money to not just African countries and not report to borrowing given the abundant human and natural resources that God has blessed the nation with.
That is why the Atiku/Okowa ticket is set to reset Nigeria and bring the country back to winning waves.
“Today’s youth inauguration is a way to bring all hands on deck. We recognise that the youths have critical roles to play not only in galvanising the votes but to make them leaders who would learn the process of leading.
And, what is more, the Atiku-Okowa policy document, “My Covenant with Nigeria” has a robust message and agenda that resonates with Nigerians.
“It is a policy document that speaks to the issues that are most concerning to the average Nigerian on the street – security, cost of living crisis, devolution of power, others.
“Your task is to get the message in this document, using the various tools at your disposal to every potential voter out there.
“As youth ambassadors of the PDP, your job is well cut out: use your power to drive change for inclusion and active political participation within the party’s internal structures.
“And on a larger scale, use your power and network to mobilise Nigerians for a PDP victory at all levels come 2023. Knowing the current state of affairs in the country,” Aniagwu said.
Also, the Senior Political Adviser to Gov. Okowa, Chief Funkekeme Solomon, said the people of the state were duty bound to vote 100 per cent for PDP seeing that there was no opposition party in the state.
According to Solomon, other parties exist on paper in Delta, Atiku/Okowa ticket is well experienced to lead the nation out of the many challenges.
Earlier, the State Coordinator, PDP New Generation, Mr Efe Ani, assured of their resolve to deliver 100 per cent votes for PDP come 2023 general election for all candidates.
The highpoint of the event was the inauguration of the various organs of the platform.
