2023: APC Diaspora inaugurates Lesotho chapter

The All Progressives Congress(APC) Diaspora members have inaugurated the Lesotho Chapter as part of efforts to widen the prospect of the party ahead of the 2023 general election.

The chapter has Mr Oladotun Omole as Chairman; Mr Olakunle Saba, General Secretary; Mr Adura Folaji, Chief Whip; while Mr Farouk Idris and Dr Abiola Akintunde as the Secretary and Chairman of Elders Council respectively.

Mr Bola Babarinde, Chairman, APC South Africa, in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Tuesday, said the Lesotho chapter was formally inaugurated at Maseru, Lesotho.

“The chapter was just inaugurated but has been existing as a registered organisation under No 2019/95 in the Society Register, Maseru, Lesotho, under the Societies Act 1966, on March 26, 2019.

“The APC Lesotho Diaspora Chapter was established in Lesotho through the coming together of Progressives in Lesotho who were aspiring to be part of the collective APC Diaspora family in Southern Africa and across the globe.

“APC Lesotho was also established out of the need to create a platform and avenue for supporters of the ruling party to have a voice and get involved with political events happening at home in Nigeria.

“This will give the opportunity to organise and support the party with resources in material and intellectual capacity while also to contributing to broaden the membership of APC beyond the borders of Nigeria,” Babarinde said.

He urged members to be committed to the objectives of the chapter by mobilising members for the party’s success in the 2023 elections in Nigeria.

Babarnde said the event was also used to launch the Progressive Parrots Forum, an NGO registered in Nigeria to support the candidacy of the APC Presidential Candidate, Sen. Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima with other APC candidates.

“The Progressive Parrots Forum has been galvanising support for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Vice President across Nigeria through mobilisation of party members and canvassing for support from all segments and demographies.

“It has now taken the mantle outside the country to marshal support from the diaspora,” he said.

He expressed gratitudes to other diaspora chairmen that participated virtually in the inauguration including, Mr Charles Mitchelleti, Chairman, Ghana Chapter, as well as Prof. Adesegun Labinjo and Pastor David Abraham, the Chairmen of USA and South Korea respectively.

Speaking, Omole, the Chairman of the Chapter, said the chapter would mobilise members to ensure the party wins the 2023 general election at all levels.

He commended the APC South Africa under Babarinde’s leadership and the executive committee for making it possible for the establishment of the chapter.

Omole, who applauded Babarinde and Mr Sanni Davies, the Public Relations Officer, APC South Africa, for attending the occasion, also appreciated those who joined the official inauguration virtually from other chapters across the world.
