I’ve completed 73 projects in Ovia Federal Constituency in 2 years — Rep Idahosa

Mr Denis Idahosa, (APC-Edo) member representing Ovia Federal Constituency says no fewer than 73 projects have been carried out and completed by him between 2020 and 2022 appropriation years.

Idahosa disclosed this in an interview with our reporter in Abuja on Sunday.

He explained that in 2019, on assumption of office, he realised that in a whole budgetary circle, the constituency had just three projects, and none of the projects was capital project.

“In 2019, on assumption of office, in a whole budgetary circle, we had just three projects, and none of the projects was capital project, just training, training and training.

“And this almost made me redundant the full year, because there was nothing to write home about from my predecessor.

“The following year, which was 2020 appropriation year, we were able to have 28 projects against the three, the previous year. So, you can see that the difference is very clear.

“Also, in Ovia Federal Constituency today, by the Grace of God, we have 73 completed projects. That is between 2020 and 2020 appropriation years.

“If I add 2023, we would have exceeded 100 projects in three years,” he said.

The lawmaker explained that he decided to work so much for his people because he often feels their pain and because he had vow with God.

“I had a commitment and vow with God that if I win my election, I’m going to dedicate everything coming out of NASS back to the people.

“It must be something you are passionate about. Something beyond normal kind of work. I believe my people will appreciate it.

“I think I have been able to fulfill most of my electioneering promises to our people,” he said.

Idahosa went further to list some of the projects to include the construction of the Obanosa Primary School in Iyekeze community as well as the procurement and installation of transformer in Okunpkon community.

Others, he said were the reconstruction of Ekosodin Secondary School, construction of primary school/headmaster’s office in Olaya community, and construction of motorised boreholes in Iguobazuwa community.

“We also constructed six classrooms/ headmaster’s office in Ezuwarha primary school in Iyowa, constructed motorised boreholes in Igo, Oghede ward, as well as Ekenhuan community, Oduna Ward.

“Similarly, we constructed a primary school in Okoro community, installed solar streetlights in Okohuo community, constructed motorised boreholes in Siluko community and constructed the Eghoha Primary School.

“We also installed streetlights in Igbineh community, Oduna Ward, trained youths and women on poultry farming, constructed primary school in Alfa camp, and procured generator for Okunzuwa community.”

Idahosa also said that tuition fees were also paid for students of the University of Benin and the Usen Polytechnic, while street lights were also installed in Iguodia and Ekiadolor communities in Adolor Ward.

He further disclosed that the Aden Bridge in Ugbogui ward was constructed as well as the rehabilitation of the Iguobazuwa mission/hospital road, and the electrification of from Udo to Nikorogha communities.

“We re-electrified from Ekenhuan barracks to Gelegele community, constructed and furnished skill acquisition centres for youths and women in Iguobazuwa, and Udo communities among others,” he said.

The House Committee Chairman on Legislative Compliance further told our reporter that since assumption of office he had moved 13 motions and sponsored three bills.

On his agenda for the less privileged and people living with disability in his community, the lawmaker said they had always been his priority.

“It may interest you to know that as a former commissioner in Edo, I dedicated 100 per cent of my salary to the widows all throughout my tenure.

“Now that I’m the Reps, I’m doing things privately, because it is said that ‘’to whom much is given, much is expected.”

“The less-privileged have always been a priority to me and will continue to be,” he concluded.
