Court dissolves 1-year marriage on wife’s request

An Area Court sitting in Ilorin on Tuesday dissolved an Islamic marriage between Roimat Qodir and Qodir AbdulRazak.

The presiding Judge, AbdulQadir Umar, said that the wife requested for divorce, saying that she was no longer interested in her one-year marriage, due to lack of love.

Umar, however, asked the wife if she was pregnant for the husband and she said denied.

The husband said that he did not have any objection to the wife’s request, saying that she was free to go.

The court dissolved the marriage and ordered that the wife should observe three months Iddah (waiting period) as prescribed by Shariah law.
