Ghana, Guinea, Gabon join Executive Council of FAAPA

Three members of the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA) on Friday joined the Executive Council of the body, our Correspondent reports.

The trio, AGP of Guinea, Ghana News Agency and AGP of Gabon were elected, following the exit of the Agence Benin Press-ABP from the Executive Council and the need to fill available vacancies.

The election of the new Executive Council members were part of the resolutions adopted to amend the FAAPA statutes to admit the three member agencies into the council at the ongoing General Assembly.

The forum, which was led by the Vice Chairman of FAAPA, Oumou Sana, also resolved to create an Honourary Committee made up of members who distinguished themselves in the services of the Federation.

Our Correspondent, represented by its Managing Director, Mr Buki Ponle, is an Executive Council member of FAAPA.

The session also considered the report and statistics on the FAAPA website as well as reviewed the report of the 8th meeting of the Executive Council held in Dakar in November 2021.

It also deliberated on the Action Plan for 2022-2023 as well as considered the training seminar reports and proposals.
