Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, has said that capacity building of a society’s workforce remains the only panacea for growth and development.

Ali made the assertion on Wednesday in Jos when declaring open a 3-day training organised for personnel and teachers of command secondary schools under the division.

“There is no better time for this noble idea than now because training and retraining is the only panacea to growth and development of our society.

“This training is timely because of the deep concern and need to better the lots of the younger generation.

“You are aware of all of the vices that is currently facing our children and the onus to make them better future leaders lies on us,” he said

Ali, who said that the training was first in the annals of the division, added that the exercise would further equip the teachers and personnel for optimal productivity.

Earlier, Col. Nicholas Achikasin, the Acting Director of Education of the division, said that the training was aimed at reshaping and reawakening the teaching skills of the participants toward enhancing quality teaching and learning.

He added that knowledge gained from the exercise would enable the teachers to be more productive and better in the discharge of their duties.

It was reported that the training had “Re-Equipping the Teachers to Develop the Students” as its theme.
