Man docked for allegedly stealing N40m truck

A truck driver, Akintayo Olawale, was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a Howo truck worth N40 million.

Olawale, 35, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Funmi Akinleye, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences at 4.00
a.m. on Sept. 28.

Akinleye said that Olawale stole the truck with registration number SMK 591 XY.

The prosecutor said that the vehicle belonged to African Mechanical Super Life Ltd.

According him, the offence is punishable under Section 287(9) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. O. Fajana, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of one million Naira
with two sureties in like sum.

She ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant.

Fajana adjourned the case until Nov. 9 for hearing.
