An Area Court in Jos on Monday sentenced two friends, Zakariya Adams , 21, and Anfor Patrick, 21, to 30 months imprisonment each for stealing an LCD television, electric kettle and a free TV decoder.

The Judge, David Damulak, sentenced the convicts after they pleaded guilty to conspiracy and theft and begged the court for leniency.

The Judge gave the convicts an option of N 25,000 fine for conspiracy or one year imprisonment, and another option of N 25,000 fine for trespass or six months imprisonment as well as an option of N 10,000 fine for theft or a year imprisonment.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the ‘A’ Division Police Station on Dec. 3 by Mr Markus Dachun.

He said that the accused persons trespassed into the complainant’s house on Dec. 3 and stole his LCD TV, Electric Kettle and Free TV decoder.

The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation, the convicts confessed that they stole the items.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of the Plateau State Penal Code of Northern Nigeria.
