KASTLEA begins release of impounded motorcycles on Tuesday

The Kaduna State Traffic Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA) said it would commence the release of motorcycles that were impounded to their rightful owners in batches, starting from Tuesday.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Acting Corps Marshall and Chief Executive Officer of the Authority Carla Abdulmalik.

Our correspondent reports that she said the release would be effected, after all porocesses had been completed.

The Acting Corps Marshall also said various categories of fines attached, must be paid before the motorcycles were released to their owners.

According to her, “motorcycles impounded between September to December will be released between Tuesday and Dec. 23, 2023.

She explained that those impounded between May August, would be released from Wednesday, to Dec. 30.

Mrs Abdulmalik said motorcycles impounded between January to April were to be released from January 4 to 7, 2023, while those impounded between January – December would be released between Jan. 8 and 20, 2023.

According to the statement, all other impounded motorcycles (2020 – 2021), are to be released as from Jan. 20, 2023.

She listed other steps that must be taken and conditions to be fulfilled before the release of the motorcycles.

She said the steps included screening of documents at Ahmadu Bello Stadium, signing of undertaking, payment of fines, as well as registration, or renewal of motorcycle papers, which would also be done at Ahmadu Bello stadium, she said.

”Unregistered motorcycles will pay a registration fee of N30,000 each, and those without Number Plates or particulars would pay N12,000 each, totalling N42,000.00.

”Owners of registered motorcycles will pay N20,000 and N3,700 for renewal of particulars, totalling N23, 700, she added.

The statement clarified that release forms would be collected at the Stadium, while the final release of motorcycles would be done at KASTLEA Headquarters.

”All the motorcycle owners are also expected to present their National Identity Cards, motorcycle purchase receipts, registration particulars and passport photographs, before the motorcycles are released to them”, she said.
