Police arraign six over alleged theft of Boxer Bajaj Motorcycle

The Police in Osun on Monday, arraigned six persons before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of Boxer Bajaj Motorcycle.

The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendants, Akewusola Lukman, 30; Mufutau Kehinde, 35; Oloyede Abosede, 27; Afolabi Rukayat, 27; Bola Oyediran, 50 and Adeleke Bashiru, 42, committed the offence between 11:00 pm of Dec. 11 and 05:30 am of Dec. 12, 2022 at No 68, Ojoyin Street, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said that the defendants conspired together to commit felony to wit: stealing.

He added that the defendants stole one Red-Coloured Boxer Bajaj Motorcycle with Chasis No: MDZA18AY2KWF63598 and Engine No: DUZWKM53983, valued N250,000, property one Bukola Adennoye.

According to him, the offence contravened sections: 383 and 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Wole Omotoso, applied for the bail of the defendants in most Liberal term and pledged that his clients would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.

Magistrate A. O. Famuyide granted the bail of the defendants in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

Famuyide added that the surety must swear to affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, addresses to be verified by the prosecutor as well as provide three recent passport photographs each.

The case was adjourned until March 13, 2023.
