Senate screening: Aregbesola clarifies alleged non-payment of salaries

The Minister of Interior, Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola has urged stakeholders and leaders of the APC in Lagos State to rally support for Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s reelection.

This is contained in a statement by the Media Adviser to the minister, Sola Fasure on Monday in Abuja.

The meeting which had in attendance, artisans, Igbo community and high level players in the politics of Alimosho and other critical areas in the state, held at the minister’s residence in Ikeja.

Aregbesola, while addressing them, urged them to ensure the victory of the party by embarking on varying mobilisation as well as door-to-door campaigns to ensure the party’s victory.

He said a win for Sanwo-Olu in the governorship election was a move to further attract massive developmental support of the President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu to Lagos and the country in general.

The minister urged them to put all grievances behind them and work in unison for the success of the party at the polls.

“It is important to let you know that we cannot allow those who have not been with us since the days of the struggle from SDP, AD, AC, ACN and now APC to take what belongs to us.

“We worked tirelessly for the success of what we have today in Lagos. We cannot allow those fanning the embers of discord within the party to derail us.

“Let us forget whatever may be the issue and work for the success of the party in the for March 18 governorship and House of Assembly elections.

“Winning Lagos is not just about shutting the doors to those who do not have the capacity to rule us but to ensure we crown all that Sen. Bola Tinubu has achieved so far.

“Especially now that he is the president-elect, to the benefit of our party, and the generality of the people of Lagos state.”

Aregbesola also urged them to go back to their various units, wards and communities to work for the party.

Speaking on behalf of the Igbo Mandate Group, the two other coordinators, Mr Eze Nwachukwu and Prince Anselem Echelwu said the group and their members were ready to vote and ensure the party’s victory.

“We have mobilised all our members in every ward and Local Government Areas in Lagos state to come out enmass and vote for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

“We won’t disappoint, we will deliver,” they added.

However, the representatives of all the other groups thanked Aregbesola for coming on board to calm frayed nerves and appealled all members to mobilise for its success.

They pledged to work assiduously for the victory of the APC in the March 18 elections.
