Gov. Douye Diri of Bayelsa on Saturday said he was optimistic that the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would win all the House of Assembly seats in the state.

Speaking after casting his vote at his Sampou country home in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, the governor said that the party would re-enact its winning streak in the Feb 25 presidential/NASS elections.

“Except there is an importation of voters into Bayelsa, the voters are the same and the voting pattern has been established in the presidential and National Assembly elections and we are hopeful of winning,” he said.

On the conduct of council polls in Bayelsa, Diri said his administration would conduct the elections after the general elections.

Our correspondent reports that the tenure of the elected local government administration elapsed in 2022.

Bayelsa is not conducting governorship elections as the tenure of the Diri-led administration will run till Feb. 2024.

Our correspondent reports that Bayelsa governorship election is slated for November 2023.
