Yari commends INEC, security agencies for peaceful conduct of election in Zamfara
The former Zamfara Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari, has lauded INEC and security agencies for the peaceful conduct of the Governorship and State Assembly elections in the state.
Yari spoke with journalists shortly after casting his vote on Saturday at NSCDC polling unit in Talata-Mafara town, Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of the state.
He commended the electoral process by the INEC especially the use of BVAS, which he said would ensure free, fair and credible elections in the country.
“I commend the peaceful conduct and manner of voters who came out early in their large numbers to exercise their constitutional rights”, Yari said.
Yari also appreciated the efforts of the security agencies for the massive deployment of their personnel across the state to ensure peaceful elections.
“I am using this medium to call on the public to cooperate with INEC and security agencies to ensure peaceful elections”, he said.
Yari also called on the people of the state to avoid violence, adding that in every election, there must be winners and losers.
“Both the winners and losers should accept election results in good faith”, Yari urged.
Our correspondent reports that the election commenced in a peaceful manner with large turn out of voters across the state.
