The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogu State, has warned motorists against drnk driving, especially during the Easter period.

Mr Ahmed Umar, the Ogun Sector Commander of the FRSC, gave the warning while speaking with our correspondent on Monday in Ota.

Our correspondent reports that Easter will be observed after forty days of fastings by Christians Faithful, on April 7 to April 9.

Umar said that the warning became necessary to motorists as the corps would be deploying personnel at strategic locations to guard against avoidable road crashes.

“We would collaborate with other agencies like National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) to ensure that taking intoxicating substance and drunk driving are not being tolerated.

The commander cautioned all road users against over speeding, especially articulated vehicle drivers, trailers and tankers.

Umar noted that recently, there had been an upsurge of crashes involving tankers, thus leading to fire explosion and unnecessary loss of lives.

“We are turning our attention to checkmate that accordingly, therefore, all vehicles, trucks, trailers, who do not install speed limit devices must ensure that their vehicles are properly installed with the facility,” he said.

He said that its personnel would be vigilant on the highways to ensure that whoever violates the rules are sanctioned accordingly.

Umar wished everybody happy motoring through the Easter period and beyond.
