Man, 25, in court for allegedly stealing phone, N317,000 cash

A 30-year-old man, Ikechukwu Charles, on Thursday, appeared before an Abakaliki Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a cell phone and N317, 000 cash.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge, bordering on conspiracy, intimidation and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Insp Chinedu Mbam, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 21, 2022 at No. 2, Ikom Str., Abakaliki, Ebonyi capital.

Mbam said that the defendant stole the complainant, Uduma Chikaodili’s Infinix Hot 11 android phone, valued at N98,000 and a cash sum of N317,000.

According to him, the offences are punishable under the Criminal Laws of Ebonyi.

The Magistrate, Mrs Ukpabi Nnenna, who refused to grant the defendant bail, adjourned the case till April 26 for further hearing.
