Court remands 2 in correctional centre for alleged conspiracy, armed robbery

A Makurdi Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, remanded one Agusana Terkimbi, 26, and Lorlaha Terungwa, 28, charged with alleged Conspiracy and Armed robbery.

The Magistrate, Mrs Erdoo Ter, did not take the defendants’ plea for want of jurisdiction.

She ordered that both defendants be remanded at the Makurdi Correctional Centre while investigations continues and adjourned the case to May 31 for further mention.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Regina Ishaya told the court that the case was reported by one Desmond Nule at the Adikpo Police Station, Kwande LGA on April 4.

The complainant stated that while he was on transit to Jato-Aka, he hired Lorlaha Terungwa, a motorcyclist to convoy him to his destination.

The prosecutor said that while on the journey to Ikyogen, Terkimbi and one Lorlumun Tarhemen intercepted the complainant and robbed him at gunpoint on Amile bridge.

“They took the sum of N81,000, manicure and pedicure kit valued N2,000, Nigeria Bar Association ID card, Driver’s license, G T Bank and Union Bank ATM cards,Tecno spark pro phone valued N54,000, Gold necklace valued N840,000,” Ishaya said.

She said that when the defendants were arrested, the police recovered from them N22,300, a bag containing clothes, phone accessories, fetish objects and the motorcycle used in commission of the crime.

The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable the police complete it’s investigation.
She said the offences contravened Section 6(b) and 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision Act 2004.
