A 20-year-old man, Ajayi Temidayo, was on Thursday brought before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for alleged  N350,000 fraud.

The Prosecutor, Insp Adesina Elijah, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 14, 2021 around 10:00 a.m. at Elufisan Family land, Aba Ibo Oniyanrin, Oke-Ogbo, Ile-Ife, Osun.

Elijah alleged that the defendant conspired with others, now at large, and obtained the sum of N350,000 from one Oladiji Fisoye under the pretext of selling one plot of land to her on Elufisan family land, which turned out to be false.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of fraud and intent to defraud.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Akin Akinboyowa, pleaded for the bail of the defendant in the most liberal term.

He promised that his client would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.

Magistrate O.T. Badmus granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.

Badmus added that the surety must swear to affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, with a definite address which would be verified by the police.

He stated further that the surety must attach identification card to the bail bond.

He ordered that the defendant should be remanded in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional Centre pending the perfection of bail.

He adjourned the case until June 1 for hearing.
