The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, says the Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) and Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) have supported in achieving 80 percent success in his job.

Owohunwa said this when he paid official visits to LASTMA and LNSA at their Oshodi, Lagos, Headquarters on Friday.

The police boss, who visited LNSA first, was recieved by the General Manager of the Agency, Mr Ifalade Oyekan, and the management team of the organisation.

Owohunwa, who commended the state government for establishing the agency, stressed that such act was the commitment by the government for improved security in Lagos State.

He said the visit was not an accident but delibrate, as the structure needed to succeed as Police command was already on ground, stressing that his visit was to identify with the good jobs they were doing and seek more synergy.

“I have come to seek your continuous synergy and to tell you in clear terms, that I want to encourage you to build this synergy with us, so that we can present a common front to fight a common enemy, criminals.

“We should not work at cross purposes. That will not be to the advantage of Lagos residents and government, who are funding our activities.

”I have been reading all the pieces of criminal intelligence reports you have been forwarding to us, that is why I decided to come.

“I can testify that to the high value of the pieces of intelligence reports you generated, they are not just credible, they are actionable,” he said.

Owohunwa said that the civil disorder squard of the agency should be integrated into the one at the police command so that they can work together.

The General Manager of LNSA commended the CP for the visit, stressing that he was the first police commissioner to visit the agency.

Oyekan said the agency will be willing to synergise with the police in operations, stressing that they were learning many things from the force.

He said they had operatives in all Local Government Council Areas and Local Council Development Areas in the state, adding that the state government had approved for the agency to recruit about 1000 men into the workforce.

At LASTMA Headquarters Oshodi, the CP was received by the General Manager, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, and his management team.

Owohunwa said that the importance of LASTMA cannot be over emphasised as it was strategic, pointing out the confusion that would happen if LASTMA and police traffic officers were to be withdrawn from the roads.

He said he was at the agency to seek more collaboration, commend them for their professionalism, while assuring them of a structure that would be a bridge for both agencies.

The police boss, who promised to deploy more men to the agency, directed police officers attached to LASTMA officials to always ensure they were protected from all attacks.

The General Manager LASTMA commended the CP for his support since assumption in office, assuring him that the agency will always work with the police.

Oreagba said that the presence of the police with his officials made their job easy and safe.
