3 men docked for alleged breach of peace

Three men – Hakeem Samuel, Oriyomi Ogunyemi and Debo Adebanjo – were on Wednesday brought before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court for alleged breach of peace.

Samuel, 37, Ogunyemi, 29 and Adebanjo, 28, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and felony to wit conduct likely to commit breach of peace.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on April 16, at about 7.30 p.m. at Ibeshe area of Ikorodu in the state.

Famuyiwa said the defendants with others now at large conducted themselves in a manner to cause breach of peace by terrorising members of the public and general peace of Ibeshe community.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 411 and 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr A.O. Ogbe, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with a surety each in like sum.

Ogbe adjourned the case until June 6 for mention.
