Man, 20, docked over alleged iron cage, power bank theft
A 20-year-old man, Destiny Ibrahim, on Thursday, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of an iron cage and power bank.
Ibrahim, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge that borders on stealing.
The police prosecutor, Insp Olumide Bamigbade, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on April 22 at about 10:00 a.m., at Isato Area in Ado-Ekiti.
Bamigbade alleged that the defendant and others at large stole an iron cage valued at N100,000 belonging to one Bose Ogungbemi.
He alleged that the defendant and others at large also stole a power bank valued at N10,000 belonging to one Tosin Obamoyegun at the same area.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 302 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The defence counsel, Mr Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant his client bail with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till June 1 for hearing.
