Driver jailed 3 months for stealing friend’s phone
An Area Court in Jos, on Monday, sentenced a driver, Nanle Jordan, 28, to three months imprisonment for stealing his friend’s phone.
The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the one count charge of theft and pleaded for leniency.
The judge, however, gave the convict an option of payment of N10,000 fine instead of three months imprisonment .
He also ordered the convict to pay a compensation of N 120,000 to the complainant or three months imprisonment in default.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the A Division police Station on April 30, by Jack Fwanamun.
He said that the complainant informed the police that the defendant visited him and then stole his Tecno Spark 10 android phone valued at N120,000.
The prosecutor, further told the court that during police investigation the convict confessed to the commission of the offence.
The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
