South African Disc Jockey, Happiness Ndlovu, popularly known as “DJHappyGal”, has commended female DJs who have over the years mastered the craft and carved a niche for themselves.

Ndlovu, during an interview with our correspondent on Thursday in Durban, said it was no doubt that female DJs were giving their male counterparts a run for their money.

She noted that she was inspired to embrace the profession after carrying out a research and observed that the industry was predominantly dominated by men.

“I came in with the intention of changing a perspective that the sector is dominated by the male gender and now there are many female DJs doing great. I am happy and fulfilled with this also.

“At this stage of my career, I am at a point where I realised that I took the right decision of embracing being a DJ,” she said.

Ndlovu, who released her first musical album in 2010, said she had also produced more singles on a yearly basis since then.

“I love my craft, I can play piano and a couple of other musical instruments and I am currently a radio presenter.

“I want people to remember me for my craft as a DJ who made people laugh because her kind of music is comical,” she said.
