Man docked for allegedly defrauding students of N1.5m

A 44-year-old man, Sunday Ademola was on Wednesday docked in in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding students of N1.5million.

The police charged Ademola, whose address was not given with fraud and theft.

Hee pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Clément Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 8, at Morogbo area of Lagos.

Okuoimose said that the defendant fraudulently obtained N1.5million from Kingsley Ikubayinje to register students of Queensley Groups of School for the West African Examination Council which he never did.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

Chief Magistrate Fadahunsi Adefioye admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adefioye said the sureties should be a responsible citizen residing in Lagos and should be gainfully employed in a reputable company or government establishment.

He adjourned the case until May 18, for mention.
