3 men docked for allegedly stealing truck parts worth N2.6m

Three men were on Monday docked in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing fire truck worth N2.6million

The police charged Moruf Oladapo,40; Tunde Akinmolayan,39 and Kazeem Muritala, 30 with three counts of conspiracy, theft and felony.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Insp Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendants committed the offence between February 2022 and April 2023, at the Fire Service Mechanic Village, Odogunyan area, Ikorodu, Lagos.

Famuyiwa said that the trio conspired to steal parts from a truck with registration number: T 6588 LA, belonging to the complainant, Mr Adedeji Sheu.

She listed the parts stolen as gear box, valued N1.7 million and four tyres, valued N960, 000,

”They were caught after stealing the items, and were handed over to the police,” she said.

The offence, she said, contravened the provisions of sections 411, 287 and 363 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr A.O. Ogbe, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N250,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Ogbe adjourned the case until June 15 for trial.
