15th Anniversary: Salem University a blessing, open-ability to Nigerian youths – VC

Prof. Johnson-Akubo, Vice Chancellor (VC), Salem University Lokoja, said the institution, established 15 years ago, was a blessing and open-ability to Nigerian youths to fulfill their destinies.

The Vice Chancellor made the statement while addressing newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday on the 15th Anniversary celebration of University.

Johnson-Akubo said that God was so gracious to Kogi and Nigeria for a senior citizen in the person of the vision Coordinator and Chancellor of Salem University, Dr Sam Amaga.

He described the Chancellor as an iconic leader, strong exemplary pillar of the Christian faith and a philanthropist per excellence that people of Kogi and Nigeria should be proud of.

“We are today celebrating Salem University Lokoja’s 15th Founder’s Day and the impact of the institution on not just our youths but the socio economic development of Nigeria as a whole.

“This university has graduated 11 different sets of ‘Change Agents’ who are out there creating impact in different fields and endeavours across the globe.

“We are not just giving our students education in the different programmes we are running, ranging from Diplomas and Degrees, but morals and the fear of God to be future leaders of repute,” he said.

The VC thanked the chancellor for his foresight and continuous effort at seeing to the growth and development of the university as a thriving citadel of learning.

Johnson-Akubo disclosed that God had helped the university to record a very strong showing in what easily became the largest and most diverse university ranking in the world, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022.

“Today, Salem University made her way into the first 2000 universities in the World. Only 48 Nigerian universities made this cut.

“We have also, by the approval of the Council, taken bold steps to improve the quality of our staffing, both academic and non academic alike for the desired result as a university,” he said
