Army renovates blocks of classrooms, toilet facilities in Zaria, Kaduna State
The Nigerian Army on Saturday inaugurated two blocks of seven and eight classrooms and a large hall of toilet facilities which it renovated at Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
It said the gesture was to strengthen civil-military relationships.
The General Officer Commanding, 1 Division, Nigeria Army Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Akinjobi handed the facilities to the Chairman of the council, Alhaji Mohammed Usman.
Akinjobi represented the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya at the occasion.
He said the projects were among the several civilian-military cooperation-related activities executed in various parts of the country by the army to contribute to national development.
“These projects will serve the collective needs of this community and its immediate environs.
“I appeal to you to regard this project as a symbol of friendship between the Nigerian Army and your community,’’ he said.
Akinjobi said the Nigerian Army had over the years given back to the society to discharge its corporate social responsibility as it had enjoyed the cooperation of the society.
He said his boss had also ensured that the army paid close attention to non-kinetic aspects of its operations.
“This crave for cordial relationships necessitated the renovation of these facilities.
In his remarks, Alhaji Usman said the project would boost enrolment in benefitting schools.
The council chairman commended the Nigerian Army for the choice of Sabon Gari Local Area to execute the project.
