The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says its operatives have arrested four suspected thieves who specialised in breaking into people’s houses and stealing properties.

Mr Ilelaboye Oyejide, the Corps Commandant, stated this while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Bauchi.

“The suspects were arrested in Misau Local Government Area,” saying that four other suspects are at large and effort is being made to apprehend them.

He noted that Misau LGA has become notorious in terms of cases of armed robbery, shops and house breaking, and attacks on innocent citizens with dangerous weapons.

“When I come on board, I raise crack operatives across the 20 local government areas to check the menace and curb it,” he said.

“When we received a call the previous day from Misau on these nefarious activities, we quickly mobilised our operatives and got them arrested,” he added.

Oyejide said that the suspects had confessed to the crime and would be charged to court after conclusion of discreet investigation.

He said items stolen by or recovered from the suspects included motorcycles, wrappers, television, handsets and dangerous weapons.

“The fleeing suspects among them had escaped with the motorcycles, but we are trailing them for arrest,” he said.

The commandant called on residents to be vigilant and report suspected criminals to the nearest security formation for prompt action.
