Nigerian army will continue to render selfless services to host communities –GOC

The Nigerian Army has re-iterated its commitment towards rendering selfless services to its host communities across the country.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC),1 Division Kaduna, Maj-Gen Bamidele Alabi, gave the assurance on Wednesday at a medical outreach in commemoration of the 2023 Nigerian Army Day Celebration-NADCEL, held at LEA Kawo, community in Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state.

Our correspondent reports that the GOC was represented by Brig-Gen Goodluck Ugeleka, Commander Signal of the Division.

Alabi explained that the division decided to conduct the 2023 NADCEL medical outreach in Kawo as part of its corporate social responsibilities in commemoration of the celebration.

He pointed out that the medical outreach was part of civil-military activities aimed at strengthening the relationship between the division and host community.

He noted that the programme would afford beneficiaries, the opportunity to have appropriate health education, counselling and treatment of some illnesses.

“As you settle down for this important event, I urge you to utilize this golden opportunity and be honest while interacting with our well trained medical personnel in order to get the best out of what they can offer”.

“To this end, i implore you to feel free to explain your problems and clear your doubts where necessary”.

Alabi solicited for the support and co-operation of Kawo community with information on all manner of criminal activities being perpetuated in their community.

Also speaking, the Danmakwayon Zazzau and district head of Kawo, Alhaji Jibril Muhammadu Sani, expressed gratitude to the army for its commitment and selfless services towards improving the living standard of Kawo residents.

He noted that the gesture would go a long way towards putting smiles and instilling hope on the people.

Highpoint of the event were distribution of exercise books to secondary school students and health talk on the dangers of drug abuse by a psychologist, Aisha Kasim.

Our correspondent reports that some of the services rendered included, medical consultations, dental care services, eye care services, distribution of eye glasses and mosquito nets to pregnant women, HIV testing and counselling among others.
