The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, has matriculated its third set of 100 degree students of the school of Engineering and school of Environmental Sciences for the 2022/2023 academic year.

The Rector, Malam Sani Usman, stated this in Bauchi on Thursday during the matriculation ceremony of the students.

Represented by the Director, Academic Planning, Mr Salihu Chimo, the Rector said that the degree programme followed the institution’s affiliation with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.

He explained that the programme was conceived about four years ago to enable the students of the polytechnic, particularly those who had completed their National Diploma programmes and want to have degree qualification because of issues of dichotomy.

“We brought the idea so that we can train our students in conjunction with ATBU and so far, the programme has been going on smoothly without hitches,” he said.

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor (VC), ATBU, Prof. Muhammad AbdulAzeez, said that a review of the last three sessions had proved that the university did not make a wrong decision in bestowing its confidence in the polytechnic.

He, however, called on the management of the polytechnic to keep to the terms and conditions of their collaboration and not to disappoint the university at any point in time.

Represented by Prof. Mansur Malunfashi, Chairman, Centre for the Screening Committee, ATBU, the VC, who congratulated the newly-admitted students, warned that the institution has zero tolerance for all kinds of vices.

“Anti-social behaviours such as cultism, examination malpractice, sexual harassment, drug abuse, indecent dressing, vandalism and truancy are deviant behaviours.

“Our duty here is not only to give you access to knowledge, but also to help in molding your character so that you become responsible citizens of our nation.

“Those who are too arrogant to conform to this, will be shown the way out,” he said.
