Agriculture: Over 300 farmers benefit from AMAC Chairman’s donations
No fewer than 300 farmers on Friday received agricultural inputs donated by the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Christopher Maikalangu on Friday.
Maikalangu, who visited the Takalafiya 1 and 2, Burum communities, Zaudna, Saburi, Kaba and Guidna communities, said the donation was meant to support rural farmers in the area council.
Our correspondent reports that the items donated include; 50kg NPK fertiliser, spraying machines, hoes, shovels, rakes, wheel-barrows, cutlasses and grinding machines.
It was also reported that cash donations were given to women in the communities and generating sets to power their borehole machines.
Maikalangu said the agricultural inputs would greatly boost food security in the area council.
He added that it was important for the farmers to judiciously make use of the items and desist from selling the donation.
“This items are not for sale, it is for you to use in growing your farms to ensure food security.
“We will continue to do our best to ensure that dividends of democracy are brought to your communities in different ways.
“This is your government, you overwhelming voted for me and I will make sure you get the best from this administration,” he said.
In his remarks, Mr Moses Alayabayaro, Village Head, Takalafiya community, appreciated the chairman for extending the gesture to the rural communities.
