Fashion designer, 22, docked over N75,000 IPhone theft

A 22-year-old fashion designer, Miracle Oche, was on Tuesday docked in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly conspiring to steal an IPhone 6s valued N75,000.

The police charged Oche, who resides in the Ketu, Mile 12 axis of Lagos, with conspiracy and theft.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 21, at Ikosi Road, Ketu, Lagos.

Bassey said that the defendant and one other still at large entered the shop of one Mrs Olayinka Olayemi, the complainant.

“They claimed they wanted to buy an IPhone 6 valued at N75,000 and after examining it, the one at large went out of the shop with it.

“He was confronted outside and he explained that he wanted to get food for his friend, the defendant, who was sitting in the shop.

“After waiting for a long time, the friend failed to return with the phone and the defendant was arrested”, the prosecutor said.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate M.O Tanimola admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum.

The court adjourned the case until Aug. 25, for mention.
