NYSC confirms abduction of a corps member in Borno

Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, on Tuesday presided over the closing of the Orientation Course for the 2023 NYSC Batch B, Stream 1, where she described the scheme as a tool that prepares corps members for building national cohesion.

In her remarks, Dr Balarabe reminded corps members that the major objective of the NYSC is to foster unity and integration among the micro-nationalities of Nigeria.

“Go to the communities you are posted to, integrate, blend and make them your homes.

“As willing community members, you will learn their ways, their cultures, language and identify with their problems,” she charged corps members.

“Today brings to an end weeks of intensive preparations for your primary assignment,” she said.

According to her, “we placed you in a better position to make your contribution towards building a strong and virile Nigeria.

“I implore you not to isolate yourselves by associating with only your fellow corps members or people from your home culture. If you do that you would have defeated the purpose for which this programme was instituted.

The Deputy governor also assured them of Kaduna State Government’s continued support to the scheme towards achieving its goals.

“In this regard, I want to assure you that the Government will continue to do its best to provide the conducive environment required for you to carry out your assignment.”

She called on all employers of corps members in the State to accept corps members posted to them and make them comfortable by providing them with the minimum requirements stipulated by the NYSC guidelines.

“At this juncture, I will like to commend all camp officials for the dedication and effort put into successfully moulding the corps members into ready tools for national cohesion,” she added.
