The Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani, has stressed the need for NYSC members to ensure realisation of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) goals in practical terms.

Sani made the call at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ stream ‘1’ Orientation Course for corps members deployed to the state on Tuesday in Kaduna.

Represented by his Deputy, Hajiya Hadiza Balarabe, the governor explained that practically, the corps would only ensure realisation of the NYSC goals through various contributions to the development of their host communities.

He said that the hope placed on corps members as architects of Nigeria was not a misplaced priority.

Sani expressed optimism that the training the corps members received during their orientation had adequately prepared them for the next phase of the service.

He said they were expected to apply the virtues of diligence, perseverance, industry and patriotism in contributing to nation building.

The governor reminded them that one of the major objectives of the corps was to foster unity and integration among the diverse nationalities of the country.

He reiterated the state government’s willingness to continue to give the scheme maximum support towards achieving its objectives.

“In this regard, I want to assure you that government will continue to do her best to provide conducive environment for you to carry out your assignment,” he said.

He urged employers to accept corps members posted to their offices and make them comfortable.

Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Hassan Taura, reminded the corps members that one of the watchwords of the scheme was discipline.

He urged them to uphold the values for which the scheme stood for, during and after service.
