Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwa, the Managing Director, National Hydroelectric Power and Electricity Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) says it will soon roll out social safety measures that will mitigate the brunt of the current economic situation in the country on its workforce.

The managing director disclosed this in at the opening session of a retreat organised for Directors, Legal Officers and Secretaries on Regulatory Compliance, Opinion Writing, Policy Document Drafting and Record Management.

Our correspondent reports that the retreat was organized by the Commission in collaboration with Levite Solicitors and Arbitrators in Minna, Niger State.

This is contained in a statement issued by Nura Tanko-Wakili, the Head, Press and Public Affairs of the commission and made available to newsmen in Minna on Wednesday.

The managing director said that the staffers of the commission like other civil servants in the country were going through the resources crunch.

“Which will be impacting on their capacity to effectively deliver on the mandate, hence the need for the intervention,” he said.

The N-HYPPADEC boss also said that the commission awaits policies to be put in place by the Federal Government to serve as a guide in coming up with its safety nets and possible wage review.

The managing director commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking bold steps to reposition the country’s economy.

He urged the staffers and entire Nigerians to persevere, remain steadfast and support the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of the president for a better Nigeria.

Sadiq-Yelwa urged the participants to give the retreat all the desirable attention it deserves.

“It is somewhat pertinent to hold this auspicious workshop to keep abreast the set of staffers who have the central mandate of holding the commission to stand firm,” he said.

The managing director charged them to judiciously treat each session of the workshop in a practical, interactive, fruitful and impactful manner for a better understanding of the legal processes.
