Divorcee seeks custody of 4 children
A divorcee, Nafisat Ya-Shuaibu, on Tuesday, prayed to a Kubwa Grade I Area Court, for the custody of her four children whom she had with her ex-husband, Zakari.
Ya-Shuaibu said that Zakari divorced her on April 29 and their marriage of 11 years was blessed with four children ages nine, seven, five and three years old.
“When we got married in 2012, Zakari promised to allow me complete my schooling but after I gave birth to my children, he refused to allow me go to school.
“After he pronounced divorce to me, I approached him for possible settlement on July 13, but instead he beat me up and took our four children away from me.
“I pray to the court to order the respondent to rent an apartment for me and my children, return my cellphone back and provide upkeep for us,” she said.
In his response, Zakari admitted the allegations against him saying that he would not lie.
“I collected the plaintiff’s cellphone and our children from her and I am ready to give them back,” he said.
The judge, Ibrahim Rufai adjourned the matter until Aug.28 for judgment.
