A heart-wrenching catastrophe unfolded on the bustling Eko Bridge, transforming the vibrant city of Lagos into a scene of horror and despair.

In a devastating collision that involved a harrowing chain reaction of six vehicles, two lives were tragically cut short while five innocent souls fought for their survival, their bodies battered and broken.

The air was thick with sorrow as the grim aftermath of the disaster unfolded. The mangled wreckage of private vehicles lay strewn across the bridge, a haunting testament to the sheer force of impact. Among the twisted metal, a fully loaded ‘MAC’ truck, bearing the ominous registration number T-1501 LA, stood as a sinister symbol of the chaos that had erupted.

In a shocking twist of fate, the victims were swiftly rushed to a nearby General Hospital, where the injured clung to life and the remains of the departed rested in somber silence. A statement from the spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Adebayo Taofiq, painted a chilling picture of the tragedy that had unfolded.

Taofiq revealed that a male and a female had lost their lives in the heart-wrenching collision. The preliminary investigation pointed to a horrifying scenario: the ‘MAC’ truck hurtling forward at a reckless speed, its brakes betraying it at a crucial moment. The result? A catastrophic collision that ensnared five other vehicles, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in its wake.

The vehicles caught in this merciless dance of destruction were a heart-rending assortment: a fully loaded truck (T-150 IL), a luxurious Lexus Jeep (LSP 795 EW), a trusty Toyota Camry (AKD 606 HH), another valiant Toyota (LND 217 GX), a commercial mini bus (Korope) with the markings FKJ 77 YG, and one more marked as (LSR 952 HZ).

As the city mourned and the shockwaves reverberated, Bolaji Oreagba, the stalwart leader of LASTMA, extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. In the wake of this heart-rending incident, a somber reminder echoed through the streets of Lagos: every journey carries the weight of responsibility. The roadways demand vigilance, caution, and a relentless commitment to ensuring that every vehicle embarks on its voyage in a state of utmost readiness.

The Eko Bridge, once a symbol of connectivity and progress, now bore witness to a chilling reminder of the fragility of life and the unforgiving nature of fate.
