Morocco earthquake disaster saddening, unfortunate, says Makinde
Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has described Friday’s earthquake disaster in Morocco as saddening and unfortunate.
Makinde, in a statement on Tuesday in Ibadan by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, expressed condolences and sympathy to the government and people of Morocco over the earthquake disaster.
“On behalf of the state government, I pray to God to grant repose to the souls of the deceased, and also wish those injured a speedy recovery.
“The government and people of Oyo state stand in solidarity with the government and people of Morocco at this trying period.
“We express our heartfelt condolences on the loss of over 2,800 lives and our prayers for the injured are that they have a speedy recovery.
“We equally commend the swift response of the government towards rescue and provision of aid,” Makinde stated.
It was reported that the disaster had claimed about 2,800 lives and left several thousands injured.
