UNIBEN VC commends Edo journalists on professionalism
The Vice Chancellor, University of Benin (UNIBEN), Prof. Lilian Salami, has commended journalists in Edo for discharging their statutory duty without fear, favour or preference.
She gave the commendation on Wednesday in Benin when the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Edo Council led by its chairman, Festus Alenkhe paid a courtesy visit on the management of the institution.
“I must commend your reportage because your stories are always weighed on both sides.
“I want to most sincerely appreciate you. As for me, that is real journalism, where you must hear from both sides of the concerned,” she said.
The VC assured the NUJ of support and continuous cordial relationship with the council.
She commended the council on achievements recorded by Alenkhe-led administration within the short period in office.
Earlier, Alenkhe articulated Prof Salami’s visions and achievable goals in the areas of capacity building and flare towards sustainability.
Alenkhe commended the VC for her support to the Union which, according to him, included finance, palliatives and provision of infrastructure and digital connectivity.
Those present at the event included, Prof Catherine Ukponmwan DVC Admin, Prof Luke Obasuyi, Librarian of the institution.
