In an electrifying address at the Presidential Townhall Meeting with Nigerians in the diaspora, President Bola Tinubu delivered a stirring call to arms, urging Nigerians abroad to change their mindset and seize opportunities for success both abroad and, crucially, back home in Nigeria.

With New York as the backdrop, President Tinubu shared a powerful message of resilience, drawing on his own experiences as part of the diaspora. He emphasized the necessity of a mindset shift, encouraging Nigerians abroad to consider Nigeria not just as a homeland but as a land of boundless business opportunities. “Take it this night that Nigeria is home for business opportunities,” he declared.

He celebrated the diaspora’s remarkable achievements, underscoring their contributions to their host countries. With pride, he affirmed that Nigerians in the diaspora are celebrated for their good manners and exemplary conduct. However, he had an even grander vision for them – he wanted them back in Nigeria, contributing to the nation’s transformation.

In an impassioned plea, President Tinubu implored them to set aside past frustrations and acknowledge that Nigeria had turned a corner. He cited strides in out-of-school children programs, healthcare initiatives, and poverty eradication as clear signs of Nigeria’s potential. “Sincerely, we don’t have any reason to be poor,” he asserted, “we are just poor in some leadership areas.”

Drawing from his own journey to leadership, President Tinubu offered inspiration, determination, commitment, and perseverance as the keys to success. He reminded the audience that he had faced numerous hurdles but never allowed them to deter his progress.

He concluded by stressing the importance of unity among Nigerians, urging them to shed ethnic divisions and embrace one another as a single family sharing the same house. “We are one single family, living in the same house but living in different rooms,” he passionately declared.

The event featured introductions of accomplished Nigerians in the U.S. who pledged their unwavering support to President Tinubu’s reform efforts. From discussions on empowering the black community with business opportunities to insights from trailblazing Nigerians making their mark in the NYPD, the event buzzed with enthusiasm.

In the end, President Tinubu’s message echoed loudly in the heart of New York – Nigeria beckons as a land of opportunity and transformation, and it’s time for the diaspora to come home, equipped with their expertise, to be part of the nation’s bright future.
