Accident: Articulated vehicle crushes car, 3 escape death – LASTMA

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed that a 40ft container conveyed by an articulated vehicle fell on a Toyota Corolla car on Ojuelegba bridge inward stadium on Sunday night but no death was recorded.

The LASTMA Traffic Officer, Olajide Olukoga confirmed the incident in a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA, Mr Taofiq Adebayo, on Monday in Lagos.

Olukoga said that three persons were injured in the accident that occurred at 10.30 p.m.

He said that the operatives of LASTMA, Police and other emergency responders had rescued three casualties from the trapped saloon car with registration number JJJ 811 FB.

He said that out of the three casualties rescued from the car, only one male came out unhurt and was allowed to go immediately.

He said that the remaining two casualties, a male and female adult were rushed to the hospital by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency ambulance.

The traffic officer, however, said that the police from Surulere Division were at the scene to provide adequate security while LASTMA officials diverted traffic to the service lane.

He said that the entire Ojuelegba Bridge inwards Stadium was temporarily closed and traffic diverted to the service lane by LASTMA officials.

He added that rescue and recovery operators completed work at 11. 30 p.m. and the temporarily closed Ojuelegba bridge re-opened for vehicular movement by LASTMA officials by 11.20 p.m. on Sunday.
